Most sustainable hotel in the world

Kittawa Lodge has been selected as one of the most sustainable hotels in the world by The Hotel Journal.

As one of only 25 properties selected, and one of only two in Australia, this accolade is a testament to Kittawa Lodge’s focus on its sustainable practices.

Being fully off-the-grid and with a strong philosophy on waste management, including a zero single-use plastic policy, Kittawa Lodge has built a strong reputation for an uncompromising focus on delivering a luxurious and attentive guest experience, while also delivering on its promise to minimise its impact on the environment now and into the future.

Being sustainable should not come at the expense of the guest experience, though at Kittawa Lodge is forms an important part of the storytelling of the property and its relationship with the guest experience.  Whether through the food or wine, the coastal walks, the emphasis on vegetation or wildlife conservation or the small touches in our every day operation, the environment that surrounds and is part of the Kittawa Lodge experience is celebrated.

We love an off-grid escape, and Tasmania is the best place to find them. Kittawa Lodge on King’s Island stands out for its scenic coastal location, abundant wildlife, and incredibly stylish design.

Scandi-chic is the focus of the two lodges, with varying tones of grey, dark stone and soft furnishings all laid out cleanly – windows maximise the view, while rooms feature wood-burning fireplaces, concrete baths and a fully-equipped living and dining space.

If you’re wondering how to survive somewhere so off-grid, worry not, the owners have stocked your kitchen with goodies, including soft drinks and spirits, there are yoga classes, hiking tours, surfing and golf.

You can book things DIY or choose to have everything catered, but either way you can expect to enjoy Tasmania’s uniquely fresh, produce along with regional wines from local businesses.
