Paddock to Plate

“Sourcing the best local produce, and sensational cooking by the boys was an absolute treat.  Fresh oysters, cray, beef, cheeses and more in season.  Just wonderful.”  Guest review.

A celebration of King Island and Tasmania’s world-class produce, Kittawa Lodge offers a true paddock to plate experience, having already been featured in Delicious Magazine and Gourmet Traveller.

Made fresh daily and delivered to your lodge, while not à la carte, each meal is specifically curated by your on-site private cook, to deliver seasonal and high-quality ingredients, with a deep connection to the island.

You will also enjoy a range of Tasmanian-made delicious snacks in your pantry on your arrival, to be enjoyed throughout your stay, and the welcome surprise of a home-made treat upon your return from a day of adventuring.

Put your feet up, and enjoy your Kittawa Lodge experience.

“Truly gourmet experience, easily matching fine restaurants we’ve dined in, especially our first night where [we had] a superb four course dinner in our lodge.”  Guest review.

Breakfasts

You will arrive to your lodge with your fridge and pantry stocked with all of the breakfast provisions you could ever need, for you to enjoy at your leisure.

Freshly baked bread, local free-range eggs, locally-smoked bacon, locally-made relish and truss tomatoes are perfect for you to cook-up a gourmet breakfast.

Locally-made granola, exclusive to Kittawa Lodge, can be paired with Tasmanian natural yoghurt and home-stewed apples, for a wholesome start to your day.

And there is always local manuka honey and locally-made jam, and fresh fruit, for those wanting to grab some breakfast on-the-run.

A range of coffee pods, which we recycle for you, as well as a range of Tasmanian-made teas are also on-hand to warm up your morning for you.

Lunches

Each day, your lunch will be brought across to your lodge, freshly prepared by your on-site private cook.

Your friendly hosts can set the dining table in your lodge, if you would like to enjoy your lunch while relaxing in your lodge, gazing out through your panoramic windows.  Or, otherwise, we can place your lunch in your picnic hamper (from 10.00am) and point you in the direction of a secluded white sandy-beach or a picturesque walking trail.

Lunches will vary depending on the seasonal produce available, though can include locally-smoked chicken breast salad, bruschetta with field mushrooms and oven-baked fennel and wild rocket, homemade quiches, a rare beef Mediterranean salad or a celebration of King Island Dairy, with a selection of local cheeses, free-range cured meats, Tasmanian pickled vegetables and locally-made accompaniments.

Dinners

Prepared fresh by your on-site private cook, each day your friendly hosts will stock your fridge with a platter of gourmet provisions, together with an easy step-by-step recipe card, for you to whip up a delicious meal in the fully-equipped and stylish kitchen in your lodge.

While there is seasonal variation, you may enjoy a freshly-caught local Southern Rock Lobster with herbed butter and salad, grass-fed local aged scotch fillet or lamb with an array of fresh vegetables, and many other incredible dishes, all utilising local herbs, garlic, lemon and accompaniments.

Each dinner will come with a home-made dessert, which generally only needs to be heated up, and can include flourless chocolate tortes, sticky date puddings and other guest favourites.

In-lodge curated bar

You will enjoy a carefully curated in-lodge bar, including the very best of premium boutique Tasmanian wines, spirits, pre-mixed cocktails, beers and mixes.

For our exclusive wine list, we have worked with industry experts to select suppliers that integrate the growing of their own grapes with the making of world-class wine.

Your hosts are available to assist with pairings to food and to take you through the origin of each of the wines, beers and spirits.  You will also enjoy fresh lemon and lime, as well as dehydrated locally-grown lemon, to accompany your selection of spirits and mixes.

Kittawa Lodge’s bar ranges from the approachable price point to wines for the most discerning of enthusiasts, so, whatever your desire, we are sure you will find something that tickles your fancy!

We respectfully request that you refrain from bringing your own alcoholic beverages to Kittawa Lodge, so that you can help us support local, sustainable, high-quality, small-batch producers in Tasmania.

Dietary requirements

At Kittawa Lodge, we strive to accommodate as many dietary requirements and restrictions as is feasible, having regard to our remote location and our strong philosophy on utilising fresh, seasonal and local produce.  As we curate our bespoke meal plans to allow for any dietary requirements, please note that our standard pricing assumes that guests will be enjoying the same meal plan throughout their stay in each lodge.

Please let us know, well-in-advance of your stay with us, if you have any dietary requirements, restrictions or allergies and we will do our best to accommodate them where we can.

We are, unfortunately, unable to accommodate a vegan diet.  For pescatarians, while we try hard to maximise the amount of seafood you enjoy during your stay, we will, at times, also offer vegetarian meals depending on the availability of local fresh seafood.
